As well as running his own family-friendly, active outdoor events in the community, local event organizer David Rooks provides event management services through his business, Event Support.
The Challenge
David wanted to complement his event management services by offering online bookings for events, both his own and those he organizes for others such as local industry through to sponsored community events.
The booking system needed to cater for the entire ticket management process - from a person easily purchasing a ticket through to verifying entry ‘at the gate’ of an event.
It was also critical that David be able to own and operate this system through a website for his business that was both appealing and easy to use.
‘To have my own ticketing system that I could quickly and easily tailor and manage for clients was gold for me’, said David, who has some technical knowledge on his side.
The Process
purpleC were committed to working with David to ensure that the ticketing product they designed and built was eventually ‘spot on’ to meet his business needs. They demonstrated resilience and flexibility in delivering a system to David that enables him to:
- Create a ticket booking facility on his website, customized to each event
- Monitor the progress of ticket sales
- Track payments through a secure ‘transition’ authority into a bank account
- Automatically generate an email to deliver the ticket to the purchaser
- Scan and verify tickets at the event
- Report on participant attendance
‘I have managed hundreds of ticket sales through this system’, said David. ‘Now I can look after not only the actual event management for clients but also the online booking side of things in an incredibly efficient manner for them’.
The Result
David has found that by using his system, he takes the pressure off clients who need tickets sales managed. Participants who attend the events also reap benefits.
‘For example, I now have a database of people who have purchased tickets for certain events in the past and, should they wish, I can alert them about future events or in some cases, offer discounts for return customers’.
But one of the greatest benefits that David’s business has realized is saving time. The system has cut down administration time in a major way, freeing up David to do what he does best for his clients – organize.
